Why Most Pain Doesn't Respond to One-Size-Fits-All Treatment

Most patients walk in having already tried something. Pills. Heating pads. Stretching. A different doctor. A different chiropractor. Sometimes years of those things. So they come in skeptical, and that's fair, because the standard approach to pain is to treat the symptom and hope it sticks.

We don't do that here. Pain is a signal that something deeper is going on, and the body is a whole chain. So a “back pain” patient and a “headache” patient might both have the same root issue, just showing up in different places. Our chiropractic treatment in Las Vegas starts with a full assessment to find the source of the pain, not the location of it. Then we build a plan around what we actually find.

Conditions We Treat

The fourteen conditions below are the ones we see most often. Click any of them for a deeper look at how we approach treatment.

1.

Back Pain

Back pain is the most common reason patients walk into a chiropractic office, and it's also one of the most misdiagnosed. So we see patients who've been told their pain is from one disc, when it's actually coming from a joint two levels up the chain, or from a foot mechanic that's pulling their pelvis out of alignment.

Common symptoms: Lower or upper back stiffness, sharp pain with movement, dull ache that won't quit, pain that radiates into the hips or legs, pain that's worse in the morning or after sitting.

How we treat it: Hands-on adjustments to correct misalignments, cold laser therapy to reduce inflammation, rehab to retrain the muscles holding the new alignment, and medical massage to release surrounding tension.

2.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is another very common complaint that we treat. So a lot of the patients we see for neck pain actually have underlying posture issues from desk work, smartphone use, or driving, and the neck ends up being the loudest signal in the chain.

Common symptoms: Stiffness when turning your head, dull ache between the shoulder blades, headaches at the base of the skull, jaw tension, tingling in the hands or fingers.

How we treat it: Targeted cervical adjustments, posture analysis and correction, rehabilitation exercises for the deep neck flexors, kinesiotaping for postural support, and cold laser to reduce inflammation around the cervical joints.

3.

Sciatica

Sciatica is nerve pain that runs down the back of the leg, and it's almost always caused by something compressing the sciatic nerve at the spine, in the pelvis, or along the path of the nerve itself. So treating it as "leg pain" misses the source.

Common symptoms: Sharp or burning pain down one leg, numbness or tingling in the foot, weakness in the leg, pain that's worse with sitting or bending, pain that wakes you up at night.

How we treat it: Adjustments to relieve the source of the compression, cold laser therapy to reduce nerve inflammation, medical massage to release the muscles around the nerve path, and rehab to keep it from coming back. Most sciatica patients feel relief within a few visits.

4.

Herniated Disc

A herniated disc is when the soft inner core of a spinal disc pushes through the outer wall and presses on nearby nerves. So the pain isn't from the disc itself, it's from the nerve the disc is now irritating. Most herniated discs respond to conservative care without surgery, especially when caught early.

Common symptoms: Sharp pain with specific movements, radiating pain into an arm or leg, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness, pain that changes with position.

How we treat it: Gentle adjustments to take pressure off the disc, cold laser to reduce inflammation, decompression-style techniques, rehab to strengthen the support structures, and medical massage for the surrounding muscle guarding.

5.

Whiplash

Whiplash is the soft-tissue and joint injury that happens when your head and neck snap forward and back faster than your body, usually from a car accident. So the symptoms can show up days or even weeks after the impact, and untreated whiplash often turns into chronic neck pain, headaches, and dizziness years down the line.

Common symptoms: Neck stiffness and pain, headaches, dizziness, jaw pain, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, ringing in the ears, sleep disruption.

How we treat it: Same-day appointments after the accident, cervical adjustments to restore alignment, cold laser therapy to accelerate soft-tissue healing, medical massage, and proper documentation for your insurance and personal-injury case.

6.

Migraines

Migraines aren't just bad headaches. They're a neurological event, and they often have triggers that show up in the body before the migraine itself starts. So we look at the whole picture: posture, neck mechanics, gut health, sleep, stress, hormonal patterns. Most migraine patients we see have at least two contributing factors that, once addressed, change the frequency and severity of attacks.

Common symptoms: Throbbing pain on one side of the head, nausea, sensitivity to light or sound, visual disturbances (aura), recurring patterns tied to weather, sleep, or food.

How we treat it: Cervical adjustments, BrainTap for nervous-system regulation, lifestyle and trigger assessment, cold laser therapy, and recommendations for sleep, stress, and gut health support.

Auto Accident Injuries

Auto-accident injuries are different from other types of pain because they almost always involve insurance, sometimes legal cases, and a much wider range of symptoms than the patient initially recognizes. So same-day documentation matters. We see patients within 24 hours of an accident whenever possible.

Common symptoms: Whiplash, lower back pain, headaches, dizziness, shoulder or knee pain, anxiety, sleep disruption, symptoms that show up days after the accident.

How we treat it: Same-day appointments, full assessment for visible and hidden injuries, customized treatment plans, cold laser therapy, medical massage, and proper documentation for insurance carriers and personal-injury attorneys.

9.

Posture Correction

Bad posture isn't a habit. It's the result of muscle imbalances, joint restrictions, and movement patterns that have built up over time. So fixing posture means fixing the underlying mechanics, not just standing up straighter.

Common symptoms: Forward head posture (text neck), rounded shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt, swayback, chronic neck or upper-back tension, low back pain that gets worse after sitting, headaches.

How we treat it: Postural assessment, targeted adjustments to restore joint mobility, rehab exercises to strengthen the right muscle groups and lengthen the tight ones, custom orthotics if foot mechanics are part of the issue, and education on how to maintain the corrections at work and home.

10.

Foot Pain & Custom Orthotics

Foot pain often isn't a foot problem. It's a mechanical issue with how your foot strikes the ground, distributes weight, and transmits force up the chain to your knees, hips, and low back. So treating the foot in isolation misses the bigger picture, and treating the back without addressing the foot leaves the root cause in place.

Common symptoms: Pain in the heel, arch, or ball of the foot, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, fallen arches, knee pain that started after foot pain, low back pain that gets worse after standing.

How we treat it: 3D digital foot scan to map your full foot structure and gait pattern, custom orthotics built specifically for your feet (not the off-the-shelf kind), adjustments to address the chain effects up to your low back, and rehab to retrain how you move.

11.

Carpal Tunnel & Arm Pain

Pain that runs down the arm or shows up in the hand and wrist is often labeled "carpal tunnel" by default, but the actual nerve compression can happen at the wrist, the elbow, the shoulder, or even the neck. So treating it like a wrist problem when the issue is actually at the cervical spine doesn't work.

Common symptoms: Numbness or tingling in the hand or fingers, weakness in the grip, pain that wakes you up at night, pain that radiates from the neck down the arm, pain with repetitive use (typing, gripping, hairstyling, etc.).

How we treat it: Full assessment to identify where the nerve is actually being compressed, cervical and shoulder adjustments where needed, cold laser therapy on the affected area, medical massage to release the surrounding soft tissue, and rehab exercises to address postural contributors.

12.

TMJ

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) issues affect the jaw joint and the muscles around it, and they're often connected to neck mechanics, posture, stress, and sleep patterns. So pure jaw treatment misses the upstream contributors. Most TMJ patients we see have some combination of forward head posture, clenching during sleep, and cervical joint dysfunction feeding the problem.

Common symptoms: Jaw pain, clicking or popping when opening the mouth, headaches at the temples, ear fullness or ringing, neck and shoulder tension, difficulty chewing.

How we treat it: Cervical and TMJ-specific adjustments, posture assessment and correction, BrainTap for stress and clenching patterns, medical massage for jaw and neck muscles, and cold laser therapy on the joint itself.

13.

Knee Pain (Pre & Post-Surgery)

Knee pain has more sources than most patients realize: meniscus issues, ligament strains, IT band tightness, foot mechanics, hip weakness, or cumulative wear-and-tear from sports and life. So we work with patients before surgery to see if conservative care can avoid it, and we work with patients after surgery to support recovery and prevent the next injury on the other side. Plus so much more.

Common symptoms: Pain with bending or straightening the knee, stiffness after sitting, swelling, popping or clicking, pain going up or down stairs, pain that's worse with running or impact.

How we treat it: Full lower-body chain assessment (foot to hip), adjustments to restore joint mechanics, cold laser therapy for soft-tissue and post-surgical recovery, custom orthotics if foot mechanics are a contributor, kinesiotaping for soft tissue and muscle support, and rehab built around the specific demands you're putting on the knee.

14.

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can come from the joint itself, the surrounding rotator cuff and soft tissue, the cervical spine pulling on nerves that feed the shoulder, or postural patterns that have built up over years. So treating just the shoulder when the source is in the neck or upper back leaves the actual problem in place.

Common symptoms: Pain reaching overhead or behind the back, stiffness in the morning, clicking or popping, weakness with lifting, sharp pain with specific movements, pain that radiates down the arm.

How we treat it: Full upper-body chain assessment from cervical spine to shoulder to elbow, adjustments to restore joint mechanics, cold laser therapy on the joint and surrounding soft tissue, medical massage and kinesiotaping for the rotator cuff and supporting muscles, and rehab to retrain shoulder stability.

Not Sure Which One You Have?

That's normal. Most patients walk in saying something like “my back hurts,” and after the assessment we find the back pain is actually coming from somewhere else, or that there's a second thing happening underneath the obvious one.

So you don't have to figure this out before you book. Just call. We'll do a full assessment, walk you through what we're seeing, explain what's likely going on, and lay out the options. No pressure. No quick adjustments before we know what we're dealing with.

If your condition isn't on this list, that doesn't mean we can't help. Call us at 702-970-4325and let's talk through it.

Common Questions About Conditions We Treat

What conditions does a chiropractor treat?

Chiropractors treat conditions related to the spine, joints, nervous system, and the mechanical issues that cause pain throughout the body. At Back in Action, we treat back pain, neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, whiplash, migraines, sports injuries, auto-accident injuries, posture issues, foot pain, carpal tunnel and arm pain, TMJ, knee pain (pre and post-surgery), and shoulder pain. We also see patients with pain that doesn't fit a clean diagnosis, and we use a full assessment to figure out what's going on.

How do I know if my pain is something a chiropractor can help with?

If your pain is mechanical (joint, muscle, posture, nerve compression, soft tissue), there's a strong chance a chiropractor can help. If you're not sure, call us at 702-970-4325. We'll do a full assessment and give you an honest answer, including referring you out if your condition is outside the scope of chiropractic care.

Can chiropractors treat injuries from car accidents?

Yes. We see auto-accident patients on a same-day basis whenever possible. We document injuries properly for insurance and personal-injury cases, and we work with attorneys, claims adjusters, and your medical team. Auto-accident injuries that don't get treated early often turn into chronic problems, so we recommend coming in within 24-48 hours of an accident if possible.

Can a chiropractor help with migraines and headaches?

Yes, especially when there's a cervical (neck) component, postural component, or stress and nervous-system component to the headaches. Migraines often have multiple contributors, so we look at posture, neck mechanics, gut health, sleep, and stress patterns alongside the chiropractic care itself.

Do you treat children for these conditions?

Yes. Pediatric chiropractic care uses different techniques than adult care. We see children for posture issues, sports injuries, headaches, sleep issues, and other conditions where chiropractic is appropriate. Call us first if you're considering chiropractic care for a child, and we'll let you know if we're the right fit.

What if my condition isn't on this list?

Call us at 702-970-4325 and let's talk through it. The fourteen conditions on this page are the ones we treat most often, but they're not the only ones we treat. If your condition is mechanical, neurological in a chiropractic sense, or related to musculoskeletal issues, chiropractic will often help.

How long does treatment take to work?

It depends on the condition, how long it's been going on, and what's contributing to it. Acute injuries often respond within a few visits. Chronic conditions that have been building up for years take longer. After your first assessment, we'll give you a realistic timeline based on what we find.

Ready to Find Out What's Actually Going On?

You don't need to know which condition you have. You don't need a referral. You don't need to keep living with pain. So whatever's going on with your body, your Las Vegas chiropractic physician will assess it, explain it, build a plan, and get you back in action.
