Everything Starts at the Ground

Foot Pain & Custom Orthotics

Foot pain often isn't a foot problem. It's a mechanical issue with how your foot strikes the ground, distributes weight, and transmits force up the chain to your knees, hips, and low back.

About Foot Pain

The foot is a complex structure of 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Every step involves a precise sequence of motions: heel strike, midfoot pronation, push-off through the big toe. When any part of that sequence is off, the result can be foot pain, but it can also show up as knee, hip, or low back pain instead.

Common foot issues we see include plantar fasciitis, flat feet or fallen arches, heel pain, ball-of-foot pain, and the recurring back or knee issues that started with foot mechanics. Off-the-shelf insoles rarely solve these problems because they're built for an average foot that doesn't exist.

Our 3D digital foot scan maps your full foot structure, arch profile, weight distribution, and dynamic gait pattern. From that scan, we build orthotics specifically for your feet — not the off-the-shelf kind. Combined with adjustments to address chain effects up to your low back and rehab to retrain how you move, most foot pain patients see significant improvement within 4 to 8 weeks.

Common Symptoms

  • Pain in the heel, arch, or ball of the foot
  • Plantar fasciitis (sharp morning heel pain)
  • Flat feet or fallen arches
  • Knee pain that started after foot pain
  • Low back pain that gets worse after standing
  • Calluses or wear patterns on shoes
  • Asymmetric foot wear or step pattern

What's Actually Causing It

Inherited foot structure (flat feet, high arches), wear over time, weight gain, repetitive impact from running or standing jobs, improper footwear, and biomechanical compensations from old injuries elsewhere in the body.

How We Treat Foot Pain

3D digital foot scan to map your full foot structure and gait pattern, custom orthotics built specifically for your feet (not the off-the-shelf kind), adjustments to address the chain effects up to your low back, and rehab to retrain how you move.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are custom orthotics worth the cost?

If foot mechanics are contributing to chronic pain elsewhere in your body, yes. Custom orthotics last 2 to 4 years and address the underlying issue, which is much cheaper than ongoing treatment for the downstream problems.

Will I have to wear orthotics forever?

Depends on the underlying issue. Some patients with structural foot issues benefit from long-term orthotic support. Others use orthotics during recovery and graduate out once the chain effects resolve and the supporting muscles strengthen.

Are orthotics covered by insurance?

Some plans cover custom orthotics when prescribed for a documented medical condition. Call our office and we'll check your specific benefits before ordering.
